Since 2015, the Food Prize has focused on cultivating and evolving the culinary culture of our region. From the heralded Golden Fork Chef Competition to our infamous Taco Wars to our Herculean efforts to connect food industry professionals, we are dedicated to providing opportunities for collaboration, inspiration, and resources for professional growth while shining a bright light on the incredible culinary talent we have here to our own community and beyond.
There is no doubt that the past year has been difficult for many industries, but the restaurant industry has certainly been one of the hardest hit. With that in mind, the Food Prize is kicking off its monthly mentorship series with a panel featuring celebrity chefs who have participated in past Prize Fests. These chefs will share their experiences from this past year– their successes and challenges, what’s working and what isn’t, and thoughts on what the future of the industry may look like.
On the panel:
Barclay Dodge is the chef/owner of Bosq in Aspen, Colorado. With over 30 years in the industry, Barclay brings his extensive travelling and experience, including a stint at El Bulli with Ferran and Alvert Adria, to the table. He is inspired by the origin of culinary and cultural practices of a place, from local farms for their seasonal brightness to the bold flavors of global street food.
Elana Horwich is the force behind Meal and a Spiel. First a cooking school, now a book, Elana has taken her recipes, lessons, and inspirations as an adventurous Jewish girl who lived in Italy and returned to California to transform her community into a bunch of badass cooks. She’s been seen on CNN and Good Day L.A. and featured in numerous publications, including Real Simple, Taste of Home and Women’s Health.
Josh Harmon is the chef of the recently opened Josh Harmon’s Kitchen & Piano Bar in Natchez, MI and former Eater Chef of The Year and Dallas Tastemaker Rising Star. His experience runs the gamut from his time at New York’s famed Le Cirque to running the Food & Beverage program at Dallas’s Belmont Hotel to owning and running his own restaurants, including sandwich shop, Butler’s Cabinet and KFC hot spot, Birdie Bop.
This free and public event is open to chefs across the country and will happen Tuesday, March 30 at 2:00pm CST via Zoom. A link to access the panel will be available on prizefest.com the day of the event.
